Tathra is a lovely coastal town tucked in between 2 National Parks, Bournda to the south and Mimosa Rocks to the north. The town is quiet with no big retail or noisy traffic. There is a good selection of shops including a butcher, small supermarkets, bakery, newsagent, pubs, bowling club cafes and some great restaurants. Aside from its natural beauty Tathra is also famous for: -Its mountain bike trail network, -Surfing on the Tathra beach and nearby beaches in the National Parks -Safe Patrolled beach at the Tathra Surf Club, December to April. -Spectacular coastal scenery in town and in the Nearby National parks. -Whale Watching from the headland and the Historic Tathra Wharf -Fishing on the beaches, in the Bega River inlet at Mogareeka ,off the wharf, and deep sea fishing launching boats from the beautiful Kianinny Inlet. Public transport options are limited in Tathra and having a vehicle or a bike is the best option for getting around. There are excellent bike paths along the main beach and also from the Tathra town to nearby Kalaru. There is a public bus service from Tathra to Merimbula or Bega.
